I guess it depends on if your engine in warmed up completely or not. If youve been driving for over 20 mins, the needle should be in the middle. Funky coolant temp readings can be cause by either a sticking T-stat or a bad engine coolant temp sensor. Some people's needle only goes up 1/4 of the way after theengine is warmed upand they say its normal, I say they are wrong [8D]
I have the same problem .. the coolantgauge doesn't move pass C .. I changed the coolant temp sensor and still no fix .. could there be a short somewhere? btw, from time to time ... the gauge does move to the middle.
