Default New Turbo

Of the first 4 turbos BaconBait listed in the FAQ section, are these all a simple bolt the turbo on and u dont need to buy any other parts? because my turbo is failing because the fan (or watever the piece inside of it thats spinning) is llopsided and griding agaisnt the inside wall of the turbo creating an awful noise so i need a new turbo. any suggestions on wat turbo to get?

either a new ko3 if you want the same power. or get a ko4 if you want a bit more power. how much money do you want to spend? and how much power do you want?

The smallest turbo I would get is a ko4, it bolts right up to the stock manifold and is slightly larger than your ko3. If you want some good power look into a gt2871, the eliminator kit also bolts right up to your stock manifold but some supporting mods will be necessary to make that turbo work like bigger injectors.

yah you also should get bigger exhaust/ hi-flow cat if upgrading turbo so back pressure doesnt build up and blow the turbo

Backpressure is a myth but I know what your saying. Cats also cause your car to run a little hotter since that is how they work so if you get a high flow cat or cat delete test pipe it will run cooler and the air will flow smoother.

there is a myth concerning backpressure, but it doesn't have anything to do with blowing your turbo. that myth being, that backpressure is required for a turbo to build boost.

so you're both right.

IM not to sure about that. I'm pretty sure that you some amount of back pressure to completly spool the turbo

thats right, however i should have said "too much" backpressure. When upgrading to a bigger turbo with chip, "too much" can build up and not be able to breathe properly without a bigger exhaust system
