newbie questions
okay, im in the market for a new audi. 1996-2004, and i have two major questions
1. what is the difference between a b5 and b6?
2. i've heard a lot about replacing the turbo on the 1.8 turbo between 70k and 90k miles. how much does this cost?
thanks guys, i appreciate any response

RE: newbie questions
Welcome to the forum audigrrrl!
Wow, that's a pretty big range of audis you're lookin at!
1) the different platforms have slightly different body styles. The biggest difference I would have to say is the B6 comes with a little more horsepower than the B5 models stock. (the 1.8t is 170hp up from 150hp) Not a lot else though..give the forum a search I believe this has been discussed in a previous thread.
2) you could probably get a new/rebuilt K03(stock turbo) for around $300. If you do the labor yourself..its just 1) take apart to get at the turbo 2) unbolt turbo 3) bolt new turbo on 4) put back together 5) drive. I believe Doose upgraded his turbo to the K04 for less than $1k. It REALLY depends on if you're gonna do the work! Labor is the biggest killer for Audi repairs/upgrades.
Good luck with it! Let us know what ya get!!!
