when i got it, it had just been off lease, from a dealer in New Jersey. i got it at a VW dealer up here for $21K (price comparisons i nthe northeast at that time for simlary year/mileage were more - around $25K) it had 22,000 mi on it when i got it it had been on their lot for one day and i snatched it up when i saw it. i totally love it its just really annoying all the little **** that goes on. driving it in the snow is like heaven. i hate cold weather but i look forward to every storm because i commute65 mileseach way to work and travel to MA on the weekends.

Did you get a copy of Carfax when you bought the car? Sorry to hear about all your problems. Your A4 has a 4yr/50k mile factory warranty from original purchase date. If you have copies of all your repair bills, Audi might be able to reimburse you for those, since most of your problems sound like they should be covered under factory warranty. How close are you to the nearest Audi dealer? I'd take your car in & have them look at it. Here's 3 of the closest dealerships to your zip code:

Thompson Audi
347 Main Street
Waterville, ME 04901
Distance: 19 miles

Morong Falmouth
187 Route One
Falmouth, ME 04105
Distance: 46.3 miles

Darling's Audi
403 Hogan Road
Bangor, ME 04401
Distance: 62 miles

Hope one of these 3 can help you out.

did you clean the sunroof controlsor just pay for a new motor?

1) wherever you bought your car should be burned to the ground for putting that logo on the rear - a nice *** is clean and trim. debadge, or at least remove that logo.

2) 17"rimson stock suspension are not really all that picky in the snow, 17" tires are- my nokian hakkapalitas (on 17" B5 s4 avus rims)are 17s and will outhandle any 15 & 16 all seasons in the snow. you need dedicated snow tires, not dedicated snow rims. chances are your tires arent plowing the snow to the side, thus dragging it up into the wheel well, packing it into the wheels, ripping shields off, etc.

3) did you let your wiper arm flop down against the windshield? the springs in the wiper arms are notorious for being strong enough to crack a windshield if not gently lowered.

if properly maintained, very rarely will you hear people talk about an a4 letting them sit on the side of the road, but the nickel-dime stuff will drive you crazy (its called 'designed obsolesence.')

Another Untimely Dime Invested

well debadging is usually the first thing i do, however since the weather here has been the average single digits (F) its not the time to do it
the snow on my rims i am attributing to the average snow storms we have been getting here are 10+ inches, 18+ by the time i get through my commute, ripping the shield off, plowing through multiple snowbanks, and making it through, cracked windshield from road debris left from the road crews,
and back to the sunroof, back to the weather temps, that will wait.
for now im most concerned with my daily commute and getting through it comfortably and without a sledgehammer.

Thompson VW/Audi in Waterville have been wonderful. they are 20 min from my house, my fact warr ran out 1/31/07 but when it came to the previous engine crap the guyback dated the invoice so it wouldbe covered, however the next service guy there wouldnt.

the more little stuff that happened on saturday the less tolerance i had, and easier it made to just want to move on to the next car. looks like this one might hang around until next winter until trade time. but even at that, i ve put on 6000 miles so far, and by then it will be another 50,000 added on -minimum.

Sounds like your commute is pretty rough... sledgehammer & all. If your cracked windshield is due to road debris being left by the road crews, you should be able to file a claim with the state regarding your cracked windshield. The same thing happenned to my old car. Road crews were repairing part of a highway, and debris cracked my windshield. So, I filed a claim with the contractor, and got some $ out of it to get a new windshield. Check with your state's DOT & see what they can do for you.
