You should have about a half inch gap on the sides of the snub mount. Top to bottom you should have very little.

How do you get the snub in there? I mean its a front engine mount... you move the engine or what?

its not connected to the engine, its connected to that front lower bar it just stops the engine when the engine shifts forward

its a different orientation between a 2.8 and a 1.8

On the 2.8 the mount cup is on the front bar, and the mount fits on the block.
On the 1.8 the mount cup is on the block and the mount fits on the front bar.

If its this size then damn I must be retarded, but it just didn't look right to me. Thanks for your help you guys are the only site that actually had something to say.... The only way im understanding this is if that mount only stops the engine from going front to back not vertical or horizontally?

No it is not meant to stop forward and backward movement. It's meant to stop vertical pull-up on the engine.
The engine does not rest on this mount. It's not an engine mount. Its a reactive polyurethane cushion that restricts major engine movement during sudden acceleration/or braking.
