a week ago i noticed that right after i start my 2001 a4 i have very little power. it seems kind of like pulsating power but after like a minute of driving it goes away and runs like normal. is there anything in particular that could cause this?

Is it the 1.8 or 2.8? if it's the 1.8, what oil are you running? and when was it changed last? Do you have a boost gauge? if so what psi are you running? We need info.

After a cold start? Change your front 02 sensor(s).

would having a bad front o2 sensor create issues with your turbo also?
No, but what do you mean by issues?ORIGINAL: akoby9

Itll create whack A/F mixtures and usually bounce between rich and lean (more so than naturally). Youll usually get a CEL or fault code if the sensor is too far gone. But you might notice running issues before that happens like what silveraudi01 is describing. When they get near 100k miles on them they become very lazy and slow to respond correctly. Eventually they become non responsive, but your engine can rely on other parts to correct A/F mixtures if that happens which is why when an 02 sensor dies your engine still runs.
2nd Gear
ok... sorry to sort of 'steal here', but you may have the same problem as me
But i tottally think that might be whats wrong with my car. When I start it up its just like what silveraudi01 said, I have little power, and almost stall out when trying to get into 1st gear. Also i've noticed that my turbo isn't spooling and have been trying to find out whats wrong with that. it just like my turbo isn't working and i don't have the power
Sorry but where is the o2 sensor, how much are they, and is there defeniate way for me to tell if its bad? well besides taking it to someone

RE: no power before its warmed up
www.ecstuning.com probably has the best deal on 02 sensors. if you're not sure which ones to buy, just call and ask them. i'd recommend changing both at the same time, otherwise you'll have a clean signal going through one end, and an old possibly weak signal going through the other...something to try and avoid.
and i agree, bad 02 sensors usually give an error code of your car running too rich or lean when they go bad. when your car warms up, is it running as fast as it should be? if the turbo doesn't spool it won't work, and you'll really feel a loss of power. so if the car runs completely normal once warmed up, the turbo is working...just mabe not right when the car starts....
and before you go out and buy a new 02 sensor (they're fairly expensive), I'd make sure that it is definitely bad (run codes).

Id check out www.purems.com or www.getcoolparts.com before ecs on anything. their shipping is rape. You should have a fault code or cel if your 02 sensor is bad, but its still wise to replace anywhere near 100k miles regardless.
