I changed my battery yesterday. I was just scared about the codes... BUT after I installed the battery, the radio dint ask for any code and started right away... Then I also realized a new thing that my radio can start even without the key simply by switching it on. Could there be something wrong?? And what could it be?
Please advise.

there is nothing wrong many newer audio systems are linked to the keys and don't require codes to reset them as the thief now knows pinching a system is useless because its coded to the keys, a good move for Audi

a 1997 well chances are its had the codes wiped which cost less than getting the code from the dealer every time you lose the code and card with it on for reference as so many do
