Is it normal

I have a 2000 a4q 5sp. I noticed that when i do have my car in gear and i turn my steering wheel that my rpms change slightly and i think thats sort of strange and wanted to know if that is normal.

thats not normal. You may need a tb alignment

Thanks, didn't think it was. Any chance you could tell me how much they charge for that also can they do they when i get my alignment fixed

just undo the battery for about 10mins and then reinstall it. Then turn the key to on and dont start it. You will hear a buzzing, when its done, you are done.

RPMs can studder slightly if your power steering pump is low on fluid or has dirty fluid.

The rpms should go up when power steering is all the way to one side. That puts an extra load on the engine at idle that needs to be compensated for. I wouldnt worry to much about it.

Exactly, the fluid might be a bit low because its a mineral based fluid which evaporates over time. Just top it off and you should be good to go.

defintly normal... any belt driven pump or accessory pulls power from the motor...
