As far as a manual goes, the vag-com software gives you a description in english, If you want more you can buy the bentley manual for your car

 

alright i decided to buy a vag-com given we have 2 audi's in the family i am sure it will help a bit. Now my only question is do i want to get the one with CAN interface? what are the advantages?

 

CAN interface is for the newer Audi's and newer vehicles.

B6/8E chassis Audi A4 and 2002+ Audi A6 require a direct CAN connection.

Basically the newer vehicles require CAN. If you have anything newer, you may consider going ahead and getting that CAN compatible cable.

I feel 99.9% sure that you wouldn't need the CAN cable. I'd just do a search online for CAN, OBDII, Audi and what not to ensure that, but like I said, I'm 99.99999999999% sure you don't need a CAN cable.

Hey Dan did you get a chance to try and VPC and Ross-Tech. I'd like to order, but I'm gonna hold off for one of the Mac guys to get a definite answer.

 

Just tested it a few minutes ago.

VPC7 and Win2k Pro work fine with the HEX-USB+CAN interface from ross-tech.
