there is a little hole on the splash shield with a plug in it so you don't have to remove the shield

so your is designed for it to be a dealer job as are the newer ones, typical of the manufacturer being in the dealers pocket

I would mark the place for the drain and cut a hole for future services, also a good idea when doing work on the fuel tank sender unit and fit a plate so you don't have to drop the fuel tank to work on it just an idea

done it myself many times to help others save cash, I use a 1 1/2" tank cutter for the job
