can someone explain to me exactly why the Fram filter is [:'(]?
Lower filtration rate and they don't have a saftey valve inside them so if the filter ever got clogged............................BOOOOOM goes you engine.
Factory filters won't do that, it will by pass the filter so you won't lose oil pressure.
Happy now?

Royal purple is a very good oil, its still a semi synthetic though.
If you wanted to go full synthetic get amzoil or redline oil.

Don't get any oil filters from chain parts stores. Make sure you go to Audi for one or they will give you the smaller outdated one that is known for helping sludge.

Yea I ended up caving and just going to Stealerville. The damage wasn't as bad as I expected from a dealer. $13 for the Audi filter, $0.65 for the drain plug crush washer, and for 5qts of Mobil1 $47. Still better than ~$110 they wanted to charge me for them to do it.

Oh I know that the dealership killed me but when I looked at advance, they were selling the oil at $8.90/qt. So yes, I paid more but w/e so I spent an extra $10 here but overall saved myself like $50 for someone else to do it...

Haha, yea I got it changed this afternoon. Made me pretty happy I'd say. I've changed the oil on my truck several times and on my old 914 a few too, so I wasn't an oil changing virgin but on the Audi yes. lol

I guess I'll wait and find out when advance has a good sale on a few quarts of oil so I can be ready for the next few changes.
