i use M1 0w-40 and it works great. I go every 5,000 miles!

 

umm i do every 3k no matter what. Even though its under warranty u might have long term probelms

 

is it ok to change it every 3,000 instead of every 3 months? or must you do every 3 months if it comes first

 

Depends on how long it takes you to get to 3000 miles.

The 3000/3month change has been foisted on us by the oil change industry. Afterall, they don't make money if we didn't change our oil.

5000 miles/ 6 months should be often enough with synthetic oil and an OEM filter.

I change my oil every 6-8 weeks because I drive about 3600 miles a month.

 

I use Mobil 1 0W-40. I have it changed every 7 months 10K mi. I check the oil every 1,000 mi. to make sure it's smooth.
