Default Oil Dipstick

Hello, I am due for my first oil change but I first need a new dipstick as the plastic ring has broken off on mine. Is there any online store I can get one at besides the dealer? Thanks.

The part is not expensive. Go to the dealer.

mine has been broken (same symptom) for the last 100k miles. u don't need to go out of ur way to the dealer just for the dipstick. you could just pick it up next time you are there getting something important.

Yeah.. I'm just worried about over/underfilling it with oil since the dipstick now drops a bit too deep into the tube..

For a 1.8T with no oil pan or relocated filter mods.

jack up car.
drink a beer.
remove drain plug.
drink a beer.
let oil drain.
drink 2 beers.
remove filter.
round up 4.3 quarts of Mobile 1 5W30.
drink a beer.
add a little bit to the new filter and the seal.
drink a beer.
clean crap/sand out from around the oil cap with rag - don't let any get in the crankcase.
drink a beer.
put the rest of the oil in the crankcase.
drink 2 beers.
you will be at the correct oil level.
drink a beer.
lower jack from car.
drink 2 beers.
take a nap.

[X(] I went step by step with your procedure but it never filled up. So, I added one step. Replace drain plug.
