Default Oil engine problems A4 year 2000

Help...
My friend has an Audi A4 1.8 turbo. and the engine has stopped due to the oil sludge problem.
Audi is refusing to fix it because they do not accept his "oil change" receipts (most are from a regular shop...but two or three were done by a relative who is a licensed mechanic)..

Has anyone had similar experience with Audi wanting to avoid their responsibility to fix this?
The car has 51,000 mi.
Thanks, Phil

yes this I have seen in the technicaial bulliten if the correct maintance has not been performed by a Audi dealer Audi can refuse this could be your friend not using the recommened oil if he has recipts for the oil that he had used he can try that i'm not sure and also should be a factory oil filter that was used when the service was done

Not true. If you have evidence of oil changes done at the recommended intervals by anyone you should be OK. But, if you had it done by a friend and have no record of the service being done, then you are at their mercy.
