oil leak
i'll try to give it another small turn by hand. yes i did put some clean oil on the gasket before it was installed. it has to be a fresh leak, all old oil was cleaned off.
it's almost as if the filter is not seated flush. i can't tell by looking at it that its not, but that's the type of leak, just slowly seeping out the edge. as if somehow that threaded post was bent.

Good, 20 years ago my brother took his car for an oil change and the old gasket didn't come off with the filter. 200 miles later, all his oil had shot out between the gaskets and he needed a new engine.

haha that happened to my jeep the first time i had ever changed oil. i started it and oil just went everywhere. i caught it just out of the driveway so there was no damage done but quite a mess was left behind.
