Default oil leak question

I have a 96 2.8Q with over a 100K miles...I noticed a spot of oil in the driveway today...is this an indication of a problem? Sorry, this might be a pretty stupid question.

and yes...I am blonde

See if you can tell where the oil is coming from. Drain plug maybe. Could be oil pan gasket. Where is the oil spot in relation to the car? Drivers side, passengers side, towards front or back?

yes, it is an indication of a problem...how major or minor, we can't tell you until you find the source

it's coming from the pan underneath the engine compartment i'd say right in the middle, I took a look at the undercarraige and it looks a little oily, but the spot on the driveway is maybe inch or two in diameter.

Difficult to tell, unless you get under the car. IT could be coming from the drain plug, or pan gasket, or dripping down from above.

Get under the car with a, look around, clear off the old oil and gunk with engine cleaner, wipe the area dry. Go back 24 hours later and see where the oil is.

Ok, so I took a look where it was leaking from. It's actually close to where the passanger compartment starts on the passanger side. There was no leaking today and yesterday it appeared to be a few droplets, really tiny amounts.

still need to be more specific for these guys to be able to help you. You really need to get underneith the car, either use ramps, or jack it up and make sure and use jack stands, and get a flashlight, and look up from where you see it on the ground. also look for a drip hanging from something, gotta look hard but hopefully youll find something. cleaning it up and then looking like the person before me said is a good idea. also if you see a drip coming off of something, try and see if it is dripping from above that and just running down it and dripping off.
