Default oil light

My Audi A4, 2005, has been consuming at least a quart of oil every 2K miles. The oil light usually comes on within a month after an oil change. When i first brought it in, they said that the sensors are just sensitive but it clearly was burning more oil than before. This seems excessive to me but the dealership did a bunch of tests (after having to bring it back several times) and told me that this was within spec'. The last time i brought it in, they told me to just top it off and refused to look any further. Does anyone else have a car that burns up that much oil? Doesn't seem right to me. If this is normal for Audis, something is wrong with these engines!

Do you have a 1.8T B6 or 2.0T B7? There has been a recent discovery on the 2.0T engine for the PCV valve going bad that causes high oil consumption.

wow, quick reply...thanx. It's a 2.0. They checked quite a bit of things, like the pistons, plugs, oil consuption, etc, then told me it was "normal" since they couldn't find anything. They even replaced the Turbo twice.

Jesus what hack shop are you taking this to? Just tell them to replace the PCV valve, since they can't prove that its bad it probably won't be under warranty, so just buy one.
I can't believe they replaced the turbo twice, thats stupid.

took it to the dealership in Farmington, MI. You'd think that a place near the "Motor City" would know a thing or two about cars! They called in their field consultant twice (so they say).

Not trying to threadjack, but have you heard of a similar situation on the 30v engine? Mine seems to consume as well - more than I would expect.

Hell, Detroit barely seems to know anything about cars in general, given the sorry state of the domestic car industry.

30V engines aren't known for oil consumption, i would do a seafoam treatment in the oil and see what happens.
