A4 CVT Vibration

A4 CVT Vibration
Hi,
I recently bought an A4 CVT for my wife. Slowing down from speed at around 50Kph, the transmission vibrates for a couple of seconds. The dealer says it's normal. Is it?
Help!
Thanks
Alex

RE: A4 CVT Vibration
Is this a manual? if so, what gear are you in when this happens? if its an auto, go to around 100 kph (2 times what u usually feel it at) and feel very carefully if there is a similar vibration that is more feint. if so, it could be just tires being unbalanced. and if its a stick, some vibration is normal. its just the RPM's hitting a point with the transmission that it resonates causing a vibration, similar to when you rub a wine glass and the whole thing vibrates.

I have a 04 1.8T CVT. Sometimes I get vibrations only at a complete stop if I don't gas it a lot. It feels like a manual during start up at a complete stop about to die out. The dealer said its normal for CVT because there are no gears.

I guess their okay, at a full stop, it feels like the tranny lags a bit if I don't gas it harder. Other than that, its like a nomal auto. But very smooth, no shift points. In the Tip mode, there are 6 settings to switch like a manual. I wonder if CVT trannies are more reliable than conventional auto trannies?

RE: A4 CVT Vibration
My mom has an 04 3.0 CVT and I honestly don't like it. Then only cars I have ever had were manual, but I can really appreciate a good automatic with the right engine. The CVT feels like it slows down the V6 and I feel it is more clumsy than it is refined. Maybe I just don't like a driving style that isn't conventional, but I am sure some of you would agree with me.
Again, this is purely an opinion and in no way a reflection of fact. (disclaimer)

Theres a tech bullitin for the systmotoms you describe. I think its a reflash for the trans control module.
From what ive seen they are less reliable than conventional autos.

RE: A4 CVT Vibration
Update:
We were so frustrated with the car that we were seriously considering getting rid of it.
A new dealership opened in our city and the car went in for a regular service. With the service, they reprogrammed some software as prescribed by Audi. The vibration is completely gone now. It's great! Those 3 other Audi dealers which told me the vibration is normal should really reassess their service ability.
Still not a big fan of CVT I must say. The DSG A3 service loaner was so much fun to drive.
