OIL Question
I own a B6 3.0 V6 Quattro.
I want to change the oil more frequently than the 2 year intervals but use a cheaper oil than the Castrol longlife oil 5w30.
Can I use mobil1 0w40 instead bearing in mind i wont be doing high mileage and technically VW/Audi have not approved this oil?
Cheers

just use the same viscosity and weights the manual says . the machanics at my job all say the same thing, change the oil and filter every 3000 miles. if the things a junk it will stay a junk. if its a large swiss watch that rips *** like what we have keep it clean and mean!
I am unsure of the oils approved for the V6 as I have B5 1.8T.
However, I would not scrimp on oil changes trying to save a few dollars. Similarly, I would not leave any oil in my car for 2 years even if the car had an oil quality monitor.
The cheapest insurance for long engine life is clean oil. I would suggest a minimum of every 6 months, with a full synthetic oil.

Mobil 1 0W-40 is approved. Change it every 10K mi. or one year.
