hi, i justrecently installed my hid conversion kit, and i placed my ballast on top of some plastic so i was just wondering will the ballastheats up while you leave the light on, if so i have to find any other place to put it. thank you for your time

 

it does heat up but not too much... where did u put the ballast? check the diy for the headlights they tell you where to put them without any problems http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext52.shtml

also what model year do u have and which hid kit did u buy...good luck and welcome to the forums

 

The STOCK placement for the ballasts are usually right underneath the headlights, which are plastic, so I don't think they would even get near hot enough to melt/distort anything.
