Default Overheating :(

So then, today i went on the freeway and i had it in fourth driving with a friend, then we were playing around and i downshifted to third, and it went to about 5700-5800 rpm, and i drove like that for about 5 seconds, then shifted to fourth, then fifth, the next thing i notice is i hear a beep, i had pictures blocking my cluster so i didn't see the boat or whatever, so then i remove the picture thinking i am low on gas since i was low on gas, then i saw the boat and looked at my temp and it was at HOT all the way at the end, i pulled over ASAP and turned the car off, i waited for about 40 minutes and drove the car back about 20 miles. does anyone know what went wrong?? my water thing was boiling for awhile until i took the cap off, i hope i didnt crack my head or something maybe my thermostat is broken??

any help appreciated, i'm going insane right now. please and thank you.

Dang, well first off dont have pictures on ur cluster, but i would have the thermostat water pump kit replaced if you havent done that recently and alos a coolant flush and re-fill.

by the "boat" you mean that thing that kinda looks like an F floating in some water? thats the low coolant warning. check your overflow and see if the level is low.

your probly gona be low equal amounts of g-12 and water, so just add a 50/50 mixture. if there is low coolant, then you might have a leak. see anything on the ground?

there were like 3 drops on the ground, i coulnd't tell what it was, it was at night. but other than that there was nothing on the ground. i don't know if my thermostat went out, or if i need my water pump replaced. any ideas?

i might just need to fill that thing up with water.

only put water in if its low. is it? reason why i asked earlier is cause if the coolants low than thats what caused the engine to overheat, and means you have a coolant leak. if the coolant level is fine, then it could be your water pump, thermostat, or coolant temp sensor.

its not low, and its not full. i don't remember what it was at, but i'll check in the morning.

how do i know if i have a coolant leak? if theres leaks on the ground??

that g-12 thing was boiling until i took the cap off. so iono?

i'll check it with a dealership tomorrow if i fill the thing up with water and its the same thing.

thanks for the help chaos.
