I'm getting a CEL with a code; P0118 - Engine coolant temperature circuit, high input. Is this more likely the wiring or the sensor? Does anyone know where the coolant temp sensor is?

 

Sounds like you just need to replace the ECT sensor.

Thanks Jest. But, I'm wondering why it says "coolant temp high" when the gauge doesn't say high.

 

You said "hi input" not high temperature.

 

How many miles does your car have? It might be a good idea to change the sensor.

 

Well, this is the way it was explained to me when I replaced mine. The ECT sensor is what reads the coolant temp when the car is VAGed. It's not tied in to the temp guage inside the car. If you VAG the car and the ECT reads high coolant temp and your guage still reads normal, it's time to replace the the ECT sensor.
