Default pad wear sensor connector

hi, a bit of a noob question but having a problem after trying to install new brake pads to my 2002 tdi b6.

Issue is the stupid pad wear sensor connector won't clip back in properly! when i took old pads out it was simple as, just pop screw driver in the tab to release and it just slipped out.

With new connctor (or even the old one from removed pad) no matter how hard i press it won't clip in properly, even with screw driver to force up the clip etc... To be water tight there is a rubber seal and it's as though when i press the trapped air compresses and won't let it go back in. I've tried some grease to let it slip back in but no help.

Any tips please??

Check to make sure there isnt anything stuck in the connector limiting how far in it will go. Thats all I got.
