Mine doesnt actually shut the car off. It jerks really bad when I let off the throttle, and then resumes normal operation. I dont get a cel, im not sure what a epc light is, but I dont think i get it either. And this doesnt just happen sometimes. If I get into more than 5lbs. of boost and let off, it will jerk. I am going to inspect my vacuum lines and dv soon. I also have a problem that if i shift hard, when I floor the next gear, it feels like about a full sec of lag then starts pulling again. that is what makes me believe it is the dv.

This is what im talking about in my "cheapest bailey or forge" post.. Im experiencing the same thing, which makes me think its my dv too. I say you get a new dv and let me know!
except i called it a surge, its more like slight lag when boosting high and shifting gears.

surge is a different thing all together, when asking for advice as much info on your car is required, don't just show a picture of your car it might not be yours not that im bothered

Yes, thats why i edited the post correcting myself in saying "except i called it a surge, its more like slight lag when boosting high and shifting gears" I dont know if your talking to me... But yeah a surge is different than lag... all together.

All right, well i have the elim gtrs with stock inlet pipe, and stock airbox with stock air filter. Is it possible that it just cant suck enough air and after a shift has to rebuild the boost?

I have a new 3" inlet pipe on the way that gets rid of the step down on the turbo inlet, so if that doesnt fix it, I am going to smoke test it then if thats not it, it almost has to be the dv.

sounds like a dv to me, maybe it is not shutting when u get back on the gas so it takes a while to build boost then it shuts exagerating the "lag" feel

Hey man I had a very similar post around 2 weeks ago and I finally got around to figuring out what's wrong. In my case I think (still not 100%) that one of my knock sensors is giving an erratic reading and thus the ignition timing on cylinder 4 is retarded. If you have a vag-com you can run tests on blocks 20 and 26 (I think...it's somewhere around that) at WOT and see if you get any strange readings. Cylinder 1 & 4 knock sensors and cylinder 2&3 should give very very similar readings. If there is any discrepency, this could very well be your problem.
