if you have a 1.8, they are prone to sludge

oil pressure is like the blood pressure of you engine, keeping an eye on that prevents you from getting a catastropic failure...

plus its easier to hoook up than A/F, or egt

one thing, if you decide to hook up the egt, make sure you dont get any shavings in the turbo..

 

When It comes to the A-Pillar is the jetta more similar to the A4 or is the passat more similar to the A4?

 

I have read you can drill into a manifold while the engine is running, but drill slowly, this will helpprevent shavings from falling into the manifold... Or you can take the time to remove the manifold and do the work that way (the proper way really)... Might even take some time to hit the manifold with a dremmel, I port and polished my stock manifold on my last car (Toyota Supra) and it made a noticeable difference in spool up time...
