I have a 2001 1.8T quattro, and just yesterday i pulled up to an intersection and i was pullin out in 1st gear and as soon as i let the clutch out i pushed it back in and my car struggled and shut off. Now this happens everytime i repeat that as long as the engine is warm, if the engine is cold itll never do it, so everytime the engine is wamred up i can repeat this process and itll struggle than shut off. would anyone know what could be wrong with it? i tried lookin for vacum leaks and didnt seem to find any, i replaces some of the hoses with the threading around them but still didnt work. I havent replaced my fuel filter or plugs or wires or coil packs since ive had the car for 4 months and as far as i kno the people before me never did either. My car has 80K on the clock. please help me!

Have the engine checked for codes at autozone and post them back here.

I had to replace the MAF at 87K mi.The car would not idle. I had a code
that indicated it was bad.

 

well see the car does idle, it only happens when the engine isnt cold anymore and than if i pull out of an intersection and say maybe a car was coming and i would push the clutch back in and than hit the brake itll struggle and shut off for an example. and it only happens like that in first and reverse, i can still take off it jsut does that in those 2 gears, not in any other, i mean i can coast to a stop in neutral in every other gear and it wont shut off.

 

Sounds like a vacuum issue, not a clutch. Follow david's advice and have it scanned. Post the codes up and we will probably know.

 

can i get it scanned if my check engine light(or any other error light) isnt on?

 

yes its called soft codes and dosnt set the CEL on till it does it 3 times then its a fault
