Default Popping noise

I went to leave today at about 6pm (When the temp outside cooled) put the car in gear and was letting off the clutch when I heard a semi-loud pop. I cant give any specifics on where it came from, all I know is I heard it. I have only had the car now for a month and it has never done this. No lights came on in the dash saying there was a problem so, I assume its fine. I am probably being overconcerned, but its in my nature to be. I dont know if its heat related or the fact that I washed my car today. I dont know much about cars so I turn to you good people for possible answers. I also plan to get the car chipped tommorrow and dont want there to be anything wrong before that. Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

Oh, and I did try a search before asking which gave no related articles.

If you cant give specifics, and everything seems fine now.. I have no clue... When you go to get chipped ask the dudes to put your car on a lift first (if they have one) and check around because you are worried and dont want to get it chipped until you know everything is ok under there... If you tell them that Im sure theyd be more than willing to check it out for free. Good choice on the chip!

Well if it was cold at the time it may be due to excess petrol being dropped into your exhaust and catching alight. If u have an aftermarket exhaust it will happen alot and only rarely on a standard car, i have an aftermarket cat-back system so i get loud 'pops' every morning. However do try and check to see if it is from your exhaust if its not i would recommend getting it looked at.
