Possible starter problem
I know this might be more a general problem but im a first time Audi owner, so I didnt know if there was anything specific. I have a 1998 Audi A4
My car suffered slight power loss while driving it this morning. Blinker didnt work correctly, radio flickered on and off once. Well after my shift at work now my car wont start. I have a 60% readout on my battery gauge. My brights/lights, sunroof, windsheild wiper, radio, everything works, and works perfectly, so i dont believe its that. When i try to turn on my car theres no engine rolling over. Is it possible its as simple as spark plugs, a fuse, something like that? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

First thing is to cheack the condition of your Battery..
it should have atleast 12.6 V(100%) fully charged
Check Cables Ground and positve make sure there thight
if this checks out ok then look at the grounds on the engine and body

Haha, definately wouldnt be your starter... your alternator maybe
Yeah, test your battery... a good way to test your alternator is to get the car started, and disconnect your battery once its started. If your alternator is OK, the car should keep running fine.
I'd definately test the battery first, but since your car was having issues while running, I'd suspect your alternator.

Battery should read 12.6 volts with a digital voltmeter.
Get someone to boost the car and see if it starts. Once running, the voltage shold be about 13+ volts.
Could also be dirty conncetion at ground, or corroded battery terminal or bad alternator.

DONT ever do that disconnect your batt cables when its running
you could do that on a 1960 Chev but on the cars off today with so much computer controlled
functions that is not a good idea
So do it at your own risk

Alright well its not the battery. Tried jumping, no good. Like i said before everything works. So basically i think its just down to my starter just going out. So if anyone knows apporx what i might be looking at for cost to fixing this, that would great. Thanks for all the replies
Your starter would not have any effect on your signals and stuff going wierd... Get your alternator bench tested or something... or if you have the voltmeter in your gaugecluster, what does it charge at when the car is running?
Alright heres what happened in the past few days. First off i got a running(push) start with my car. Runs perfectly. Took it to the mechanic that i orginally had look at my car before i purchased it. His diagnostic was a starter problem. So after him trying to get me for parts and labor i didnt have him fix it. I found the part for 160 +sh, he wanted 400+. So, now im faced with installing this myself, which shouldnt be too much of a problem. But before i order this part and do anything else I want to double check fuses. However when i purchased the car i didnt get a manual, and the obvious places for a fuse box, its not there. Ive got a 98 A4 V6, thanks again guys
