I have $3000 to spend on my stock 2004 audi a4. i want to increase hp more than anything. what are my best options

 

3.0?,1.8? Its a big difference. Supercharge the v6 but not with 3000. BT kit for 1.8 with supporting mods.

That will get you a nice boost, if you want more then next steps would be:

FMIC $1000
Turbo $1000+ (if you are going to go big on the turbo then you should upgrade the clutch first if you have a stick, or torque converter and valve body if you have a tip)

 

You can put a BT kit together easily with $3k. Id be setting your sights a little higer than a chip if you are set on putting that much into your car.

if you don't want to go BT (because clutch is pretty expensive)

maybe k04,chip,exhaust,injectors,maf,intercooler ~ $3000 and about 110-120 extra horses

however i would still get a clutch upgrade asap
