After searching the forums I'm guessing I have a power window regulator problem. It started a couple of weeks ago with the driver side and now the passenger side as well. The front windows sound like someone has jammed gravel inside the door panel. The won't roll all the way down and it takes awhile to get them back up. Kind of flail up and down but with plenty of power. The window has some marks on it, but they're not permanent.

Regulators or kids sabotaging?

 

mine did that right before the window crashed into the door. The regulator is made of cheap plastic, and the replacement is $75. It means taking the door apart, with the screws in the handle, disconnecting the electrical work, undoing the star bolts and drilling the rivets. Replacing the rivits and realigning the door to close properly and putting it all back together. Wasn't fun, but wasn't hard.
