Exactly right - lower octane gas WON'T HURT YOUR CAR due to the KNOCK SENSOR which retards timing when it senses a knock. Your performance will decrease, but it won't mess anything up.

with all the mods/maintenance/money you are putting into your car why would you trade performance for $5 per tank?

 

15000 miles per year / 25 mpg * 2.79 = $1674
15000 miles per year / 25 mpg * 2.99 = $1794

Maybe someone needs that $120

 

Funny thing is I did the math before buying mine, I'm actually saving money on gas cause I'm getting more mpg than my old grand prix that ran on regular

 

Pretty irrelevant though... a GP won't get the same mileage as a 1.8t - regular or not. That's like comparing apples to pears...

I do see how getting a 1.8t will save on gas though... I wish i had one

 

OK, check this, for a knock sensor to work, it must first detect a knock!!!! That means your car pre-detonated, which is bad for the car.
The knock sensor may help it from knocking further, but if you want to get technical, in order for the knock sensor to do its job, the car IS KNOCKING TO START WITH and this is BAD.
ALWAYS USE 91 OR HIGHER.

 

I still can't understand why someone would buy a car as great as an Audi and then put cheap gas in it. It is a crime and your privlage to own such and awsome car should be revoked.
