I know this may seem stupid, but could some one please explain to me what the difference is btwn an A4 and a B5? Theres so much talk about the B5 on here and i never understand the distinction between the two are. B6 also, i guess, and any other B versions.

B5 and B6 are body styles of the A4

B5: 96-01.5
B6: 02-05
B7: 05.5-??

 

Damn thats all? I though it they had like a different spec'ed engine or something.

Maybe slightly...but there's variation within the chassis codes, too. The only thing B5 vs B6 vs B7 designates is the chassis code.
