Default PROBLEM WITH HID'S

I just replaced my Bulbs for my HID's and Today when i was under the hood i started to smell something coming from my passenger side head light...I turned them off and they wouldn't turn back on so I kept restarting the Ballasts and finally they came on again....I still smelled that burning odor and I took apart the headlight assembly and gave it a good wiggle and it didn't seem as if there were a definite loose connection so i put everything back together...Before i closed the hood i gave the headlight a good tap and all of a sudden BIG FLASH and the light goes out...Now when i turn the lights on and off i hear the clicking from the ballasts but no lights...Does this mean the light blew or that I might be experiencing problems with the Ballasts? I need help bad because I love my HID's.

A digital Volt Ohm Meter or any kind of electrical tester other than a test light. The ballasts might be blown. If you are gettin power in but not out or if your are getting partial signal check the voltage going into the ballasts and out of the ballasts. If you have the manual that came with the HID's it should tell you what voltage you should be getting out of the ballasts (it might even say it on the ballasts). Take the voltage eading and it should start you in the right direction.

You "Salted" your bulbs, becasue you turned them on when they were pointing up. Thats what your problem is, go buy some new bulbs man. Thats gunna hurt the pocket.
Never ever ever ever ever ever when your dealing with HID systems, turn them on when the bulb is pointing up.

The bulbs weren't facing up...I still had the headlight in its original place when i had them on...So in that case what may have happened? They blew after i tapped on the headlight to make sure they were in there tight...

and for future referance don't put a voltage meter up to some thing with a ballast or igniter. lets just say I've enjoyed the experieance.
