alright, i purchaesed my 2003 a4 1.8t quattro about 2 months ago. now it seems likethe engine is misfiring. anybody hav any guesses as to what this might be.

ALSO i blew my clutch. any guesses on how much that will cost to fix?

 

Is your engine light flashing? Did you check the DTC's? Those are the first steps in diagnosing the problem.
If it is miss-firing its a faulty coil pack guaranteed.

 

yea the engine light is flashing, i just read someones thread and the same thing seems to be happening to my car. how much do coil packs go for? and im sorry i dont kno anyhting about cars but what is a DTC?

and any idea on how much it is to replace a clutch?

 

Diagnostic trouble code, there is a specific code that throws a check engine light, for instance if the code is a miss-fire on cylinder 2 you would order 1 ignition coil.
Check on www.ecstuning.com they have coils for decent prices.
A clutch on a 1.8T is generally 10 hours of labor + the clutch, about $1,500 depending where you are in the country.

 

ecstuning sells clutch kits for $309, and yeah, anywhere from 8-10 hours of labor.

 

someone having a similar problem sayd somehting about changing the cam sensor or something? is this hard to do if i have to do it?
