Default Problems with 99 A4

Hey guys, a buddy of mine just bought a 99 a4 1.8tq and he has been having some trouble with it. He had a check engine light and when we checked the codes, there was a mafs problem and also a cylinder 2 misfire detection. Im not sure what the problem is but Im guessing it might just be the mafs. Anyone with any input please help me out.
The car has 84k miles with brand new bosch spark plugs and new fuel filter if that helps at all.
Thanks.
Josh

you are going to have to post the specific codes. They should start with a P.

the two codes that came back up are:
16684 Random/Multiple Misfire Detected
P0300-35-00
16686 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0302-35-00
Hope that helps. Thanks.

I had the same problem. Search for all posts with my name and look for threads titled misfie from the last month or so.

Swap the #2 coil with that of another cylinder. If the code goes to that cylinder, replace the bad coil. Do the same with the #2 spark plug.
