hi there, my 2.8 gave me a p0422 code main catalyst below effeciancy (bank 1). I understand that i need a new catalytic converter then. my question is, how many are on the car? is it the 1st one that needs replacing (closest to headers)? im looking at a magnaflow from catalyticconverters.com
anyone have experience with magnaflow cats on a 2.8? has anyone ordered from this site before?

My other question is, when i spoke with the guy who is going to weld on the exhaust, he said he could remove a resinator for $10. i had a buddy who did this on a bmw and it sounded good. But what about my 2.8, would it sound good just getting rid of one resinator?.. keeping in mind it would still have the stock muffler. i know i should get a muffler and will, but its low on my list right now. so does anyone recommend i should do this??

I have universa; magnaflows on my 2.8. They ran me $100 for the pair (there are 2 of them) and I haven't had any issues.

Removing a resonator sounds good on some - I hated mine without some sort of mid muffler, but I did have an aftermarket axle back exhaust.

 

where did you buy the magnaflows for your 2.8?


so no one has ever taken a resonator off and still used stock muffler??

 

Plenty of people have hacked off the resonator - there are a few youtube clips if you search audi 2.8 exhaust
