quattro - 2wheel drive conversion?
sorry, let me clarify. i didn't mean he's bsing you about the rwd conversion, i'm sure it can be done...but he is bsing you about how it's done, and also about having an 11 second 3.0L w/a few bolt-ons...and why in the world would you think a rwd conversion is better performance? youre not removing anything, so there is no weight reduction..all it means is less traction on the launch. i'll admit, it would be fun to have a rwd a4, but imo, it's not nearly worth the trouble and money involved (i guarantee it costs at least 10 times more than his estimate)
EDIT: it would probably cost almost 100 times the estimate your buddy gave you to do it right

that's true, tom, your 5 second car would smoke that 3.0L in the quarter mile (watch out for his rwd though)...btw, let us know when you break the 5.0 mark on your quarter mile
Well the weight is still there however your turning two less tires so you would have a little more power. I would think there would be a problem with the electronics that control the quattro. It's designed to deliever the exact amount of power each wheel needs depending on traction. So if two wheels are disconected it seems like it'd mess something up. Maybe it would just send all the power to the rear wheels though thinking the front two were slipping. I want Jest to tell us what he thinks. I wish my A4 were rear wheel drive, drifting is fun!!!
