anyone know if its possible to fit a newer dashboard cup holder in the older dash?

like, the cup holder from this one...



but in the older dash like this..



i don't know whats behind the dash there, but they seem to be mounted near the same area...? and on the topic kind of, what other buttons are there supposed to be in the 3 empty slots, anything?

 

you can definetly find some way to retrofit the cup holder in the older dash

 

if you find a way pm, my stock cupholder on the b5.0 suck.and the stuff that they do hold messes with my shifting. i have pulled out the entire center of my car and it wasent oo hard so if the same can be said for the later b5.5 i guess its theoratically possible the only issue i see is the climate control youd have to rewire, as for the radio im pretty sure wiring is the same. another idea i had was just take out the spare buttons and move over the passeneger seat heater switch and just jam a b5.5 cupholder into it with screws or some epoxy.

 

Oh firstly if you use any of my idea i am not resonible for hady hady hady, disclaimer. if you use the second idea just to let you know you have to cut out the button holders.
