question about limp mode
just wondering if there is a way to stop the car from goin into limpmode, i have a 2000 1.8T apr 91,007dv and the n75J valve, ever since i installed the n75j,4 days ago, its goin into "limp mode" 2 times mostly when im in 2nd gear given her WOT. spikes a like 21-22 psi and then limp mode hits. is there a way to stop limp mode from coming on. when i searched i found some threads talkin about the ecu is picking up that the car is running lean or something like that, would bigger injectors or anything like that help out??
Thanks
Thanks
You are over boosting..Search on "diode mod." It tricks the ecu into thinking you are boosting 17 or so psi max when you are actually boosting more than that. Other solution would be to try an n75H valve or go back to stock n75.
I was having the exact same issue as you (limp mode at WOT), but all it took was my GIAC chip to make me overboost and be put into limp. I dealt with it for over a year.. Ever since i put my exhuast on, i never go into limp anymore and i can WOT/high rpms all day.. (even though my boost levels never changed).

the instructions are not that clear on the diode mod, would this problem go away after i install the k04 kit im slowly piecing together and get the j31 file?

If you have the option go with the exhaust before you but the K04 in. The K04 will only increase the severity of the issue you are experiencing right now because your going to be spiking higher/quicker/on less throttle. You will also want to do the EFIs before the turbo or you will then be running lean. Always try to open the engine up so she can breath before dropping a bigger turbo in.
This has been an on going preblem since I got my flash. somebody said ti takes a few weeks for the ecu to adapt going on week 4 same issue. "Baby the car for 2 weeks it worked for me" tried it no dice. Upgrade your DV. done same thing. disconnect battery do tba. done done. Nothing. Now I found out that I have a cracked hose going to my secondary air pump and I am hping that this will correct the issue. If not I guess we will have to get a n exhaust sooner then planned cuz this is killing me.

Dont know man. 00+ can be tricky for tuning. Id get your exhuast first and see if that helps you like it did me.

"Limp Mode" sounds like timing's being pulled due to excessive knock. Assuming my assumption is correct, and you're boosting at 20+psi, chances are your timing's too advanced for the load+boost and you're getting pre-ignition. (yeah, there's a number of factors that contribute to excessive knock, i'm not listing them all) Having the ECU pull timing to reduce knock is your car's way of trying to save it's own life.
Instead of trying to fool your ecu into staying out of limp mode, you should try and isolate why you're creating that much boost, or tune the components of your a/f system to accomodate for the extra boost. Fooling the ECU can eventually come back to bite you in the *** with a vengance.
For those more knowledgeable, if limp mode isn't timing retard due to excessive knock, I'll put on my flame-suit.
