Default Question about recalls

My 2000 A4 with 70,000 miles is making a very, very faint grinding sensation/noise. Its not like grinding gears, I just sense slight resistance and roughness when turning the wheel. The steering is tight, and the car drives straight, and the steering wheel returns to center by itself. The fluid is brown, and is over filled slightly. Ive only had the car for a week and never really noticed this until a coulple days ago. Any ideas? Bushings look good underneath, no leaks that I can see.... I know there are bearings that connect to tie rods for the steering, and there was a recall in 99 for the boots that protect them. I havent been able to get a close look at them yet. Word to your mother.
