Default Questions (issues) with my '98 A4 Avant

Just picked up an extremely clean A4 Avant, with 106,xxx miles on it for $5000.
It was owned by old people as the only owners prior to the dealer selling it off on the auction block, he never told me it was old people, but car fax showed me one owner, and the fact there were AARP membership stickers on the side windows, and the fact I found the car to be too clean for someone other than, a church go-er/drive to FL for thw winter car.

picture folder of my a4

everyone lovs pics, so here are some, the only flaws on the car are : some scratches in the rear bumper (and a little crease from something hitting the bumper)

Now I have a few questions for everyone.

1.) How the hell do I re-attach the review mirror, unlike normal ones, it does not appear to have a small peice that comes off allowing for easy glueing.

2.) ABS Light (solid) and Brake Light (flashing) come on and off while driving. (Think it is something simple a non audi dealer can fix?)

3.) Air Bag Light is on solid, sensor?

4.) The car has a squeeking sound off and on in the front driver side wheel well area, when going over bumps (major or minor) and when turning; although this morning in the cooler air, the squeaking went away. The sound kinda sounds like rubber rubbing, but I am not quite sure, I looked under there for a second and just shrugged and walked away. Idea's on what it could be? Might it be covered under Recall (since I saw there was something todo with a rod end on the recall list?) The noise does not appear in the actual feel of the steering or handling while driving, although I can feel a slight rub when turning hard at low low speeds (backing around in parking lot).

Also do you guys suggest only using an Audi Dealer's mechanics? I typically do not like going to dealerships because of the *** raping they do to your wallet, how ever, I do not know if audis are a particular set up that you should not trust to a normal mechanic?

In reading some other posts and searching a little, I see there is some major issues with the Tie Rod ends on these cars, and looking at the audi site, there is a recal for my year.

Do any of you think the sqeeking could be from the bushings on them? If so since there is a factory recal, does that mean the whole fix is done for free at the dealership?

1. What do you mean the mirror is off? There should be a button that attatches to the glass. The mirror then goes over it and turns about 90 degrees to lock on.

2. I hope you don't have a bad ABS controller, cause that's gonna cost a lot. But you need to get the fault codes scanned to find out the problem.

3. Could be anything from a bad air bag, to just loose connectors underneath your seat or instrument cluster.

4. Go get your car inspected by Audi to see if it will be covered under the free recall.
