quick 2.8l trans question
heres an additional question, the tranny pan was punctured and bleed dry. how durable are they without fluid? im just wondering if i can get away with throwin a new pan and some fluid in it, or if i should save my energy and just get a replacement and do the whole job. input appreciated! still curious about which 2.8's are interchangeable.
Depends if it was driven far with no fluid. They would heat up and start melting parts without fluid. I would throw a pan anf luid at it and see if it works. If it doesn't then you are only out a few bucks.
As for interchangeable I would guess they might be. They could have different mounting points and other items that are unique to each one. A transmission shop might anwser that question for you if you ask nicely.

well, 130$ for pan gasket, filter, and that miracle juice at 20 dollars a qt or L or whatever magic unit they measured it in X6.
I dong know what extent it was driven dry. i started it to get it on a flat bed, took 2200rpm to get it to do anything but it was running in gear for only a few minutes. just waiting on the fluid in the mail to throw the pan i got on it. Oh! the stealership wanted 445.00$ for a new pan. wtf??? got mine for 200$ but it included a hood, bumper, and a headlight haha
