Quick question please.
Is it really that hard to look under the car?
If there is a driveshaft from the gearbox to the rear, it's quatro.
As you can see from the pictures above, the Audi has a 3-part rear axle, so it doesn't look anything like the rear axle of a 4x4 truck with stiff axle.
If you're still uncertain, just take a picture and post here.

Hmmmm I just registered too. At the bottom of the screen it says "Go to Edit preferences, and indicate that you own an Audi. Then follow the prompts to complete the registration with your VIN and you're done." I did that and i was not prompted to enter my VIN. I wonder if they have removed that feature. [&:]
How do I know the beautifully maintained 1996 A4 I just bought is a Quattro?
1) "Quattro" badge by the glovebox.
2) "2.8 Quattro" badge on the bootlid.
3) I can see the driveshaft between the two exhaust lines (and oil splash on one of the cats from a leak in the center differential; ah, the downside of AWD).
The 3rd through 8th characters of my VIN, which describe major attributes of the car, are "EA88D." I believe the "A" denotes the 2.8L 12V engine; I suspect the "Quattro" is buried somewhere in the remaining 4 letters.
