quick ? .... sea foam in oil treatment
i did the sea foam treatment that has a write up on it ... except for putting it in my oil ... i have a leak in the oil pan and i didn't know if using the sea foam in the oil for a couple hundred miles would make my leak worse or not ? any ideas ? ... what good does the sea foam do in the oil ? i can understand what it would do in the engine and gas lines ... thanks
Deffinately dont use seafoam for a couple hundred miles in the crank case. It does basicaly the same thing in the oil as elsewhere.. It frees up carbon deposits and sludge... The stuff is gunna thin your oil quite a bit and that can be bad for running it over extented periods of time.. Like REAL BAD. If you think your crank case needs flushed, do what Zedex recomended to be and just do a few very frequent oil/filter changes to be safe. Otherwise you CAN risk scoring of your cylinder walls and lose compression.
yea thats what i thought...... deff search for how to do it properly man check this out http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2020559.phtml
it's not so much the mileage, just the time....you can drive it 200 miles with the seafoam in there with no problems, it just has to be within 2-3 days max...if you leave it in for longer than that the solvents will "rescore" your cylinders (since they're already scored from the original break-in) which, like onepoint said, will cause a loss of compression
