Default Radio "Safe" Mode

I replaced my battery in my Audi A4 1.8, and the radio went into "Safe" mode. I purchased my car used, and don not have the code. The Dealer wants to pull the radio (Charge me) and get the number off of the back. Is there any easier way to obtain this number????

The number should be in your manual. (not the thick manual but the separate radio manual which is a smaller booklet included with the rest of the literature).

If you don't have that, try lookin in your trunk wheelwell (spare tire). There is a sticker in there that contains a lot of info about your car.

other than that you are SOL.
