Default Radio in "SAFE" mode

Hi,

Recently, I detached my car from my battery. This caused my radio to go in to SAFE mode. TO ALL: do not detach your car's battery unless you have yor radio code at hand. I cant find my code. I called the nearest audi deal and they said it will cost me 100 bucks to reprogram the radio. Is that resonable? It sounds a little pricey. Any advice on how I can bybass the SAFE mode so my radio is funcional again? Thanks in advance for your input.

use the hundred dollars for a new deck. but that is about right. some dealers will charge only 75, it kind of depends on the volume of work the dealer gets

they charged me 45 out the door. half hour labor when it was really 10 min. i hate those people but your getting raped in every hole lol. they make this thing you stick in your cig lighter that saves all the crap so you don't ever need a radio code. it's like 5 bux.

My salesman gave me a business-sized "Radio Card" with the serial # and the code # on it. He also wrote it down in my owners manual, so check in there if you haven't already.

yeah, I've briefly looked through the manuals. Especially in the notes section. Haven't seen it there. It's been taken out by the previous owner of the vehicle. Thanks for your advice.

Try to get ahold of the previous owner, and ask him/her about it. Maybe they still have it by chance and will give it to you, or they put it in an odd place in your car. That'd be your best bet.

Anyone know how to find the code on the RNS-E to prevent something like this from happening in the future?
Also, any of you guys that bought pre-owned, how many of you got the key tag with your key sets????
