this is a common problem, most likley its your tie rod ends (upper). it could also be the upper control arms. check the boot by removint the wheel this can be easily done. but mostlikley this does sound like its a tireod end prob.

RE: rattle/clunk on front left over bumps????
I just purchased mine recently...So if Audi still hasn't fixed the recall on mine then they can still do it for free?? Just wondering. One more question-can any Audi dealership find out the history in terms of the maintenance and parts replacement for my car? Thanks guys

Yeah Crazyhawk I think you are right about that.
robsilvr85, yes Audi will do a one time inspection on your car for free. If they find a problem with the tie rods they will replace them at that time.
The dealership keeps track of service for your car but they may not provide the information to you. I know when I tried to get the service history for my B5 they give me some line about not being able to give out that info.

Prolly not Tierods, though it could be. Sounds just like upper control arms. Take your tire off and hit em not too hard with a mallet or see if you can move em.. HAVE FUN WITH THE BITCH BOLT!!!
