Rear Drivers Side Window
I'm having a problem with my rear drivers side window. When you click the button down it goes down about half way and stops. Then if you pull it up, it goes up a little bit and falls back down. If you keep toggling it up it will finally pull up with a struggle. What is interesting about it is that while youre doing this, there is an awful noise. Almost a crunching sound. I don't really know what this is, but I've heard it might be a window guide, a cable regulator, or the whole motor, or just be oiled. If anyone can help me on this, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way it's a 99 A4 1.8T Quattro. Thanks!
yep sure sounds like you need a cable regulator. http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...egory=Interior
if you can figure out how to take the panel off, you can most likely do the install. i'm pretty sure you will need to drill out some rivets to remove the old regulator.

Im having a similar problem... I took my panel off and realized the cables were unwound from the spool... Is there any way to rewind them back onto there?

same thing happened to mine nothing broken but kinked, i could not straighten it out so i bought the regulator but have not put it on yet because it is a pain. so i ziptied my window shut for now
Im thinking about buying the same type of cables and same type of connectors and replacing them myself... the reg. is 100 bucks and I dont want a non functional window haha. Its a bitch to wind them back up on the spool though.
So does anyone know how to get the top mounting screw out of the regulator to remove it? I'm replacing my passenger side rear window regulator and can't figure out how to get to the top screw that holds the regulator in.
Any help with this would greatly be appreciated!
TIA
