1999 a4. How do you remove the rear speaker grills in the rear dash? I have attempted to pry expecting them to pop off, but I am having no luck. What it the trick?

same year same car....i tried to pry it off on mine and ended up breaking some pieces...they are supposed to click when you take them off and on, but for some reason you have to jerk it hard enough that pieces break...be careful....

 

if ur wanting to change the speakers, u have to remove the entire rear deck interior panel, 3 clips underneath, 3 bolts under the hooks, d/c ur middle rear light, and just pull and the rear interior panel pulls rite off and gives u full access to ur speakers and removing the speaker grills if wanted. dont pry them with a screw driver u will just break em.
