Man, when I changed my rear rotors I didn't do any of that. I just beat on them and they fell off. I've never heard of having to take a wheel bearing out to change a rotor. I think you'll get in there and be like "man this is way easier than I thought." Read some of the tech articles on AW if you don't have a repair manual. If you don't, I'd recommend picking up a Chilton b/c I just got a Bentley and I keep finding myself going back to the Chilton. There's just something about real pictures.
Yeah I usually make things harder than they actually are. I just like to be completely prepared and minimize the time it takes with no surprises. I guess all i need to worry about is getting the caliper tool... Anyway thanks all for your help and ill post some pics tomorrow of the job if yall want... Youll laugh when you see the condition of the old rotors.

Are you having a problem with your bearing? If so, you will need to press it out and also press the new one in. Make sure you have the orientation correctly installed or you could damage the new bearing. You also need to mark the camber so when you put it all back together, you will not need wheel alignment.
I had mine done last year for $130 parts and the labour done by me. I have to buy a 14mm allen key to remove the bolt that holds the hub. Make sure you have that tool.

No, no problems with the rear bearings, i was confused and thought that was part of the process of replacing the rear rotors.. I know it probably is a good idea for preventitive maintnance, but i think ill worry about it when they start making noise. Hopefully not anytime soon.

it does not go into the rotor at all
Two bearings that are pressed into the rotor an inner and an outter, no other bearings in the rear. They are both in the rotor, there is no hub on the frontrak, it is on a spindle. They are also not a "true" sealed unit, the inner has a dust cap but is still unsealed. All in all replace the wheel bearings when you do the rear rotors on the frontrak, ~$10 a side at autozone, easier to do it now than latter.

Your camber will not be affected when you change the wheel bearings, cant see how it will, your not spacing the wheel out or lowering the car any.

Thanks for clearing that up... You have no idea how much i appreciate it, if for nothing else, peace of mind... I guess with the quattro there is a hub, and innter bearing/race is pressed in far and the whole thing needs to be taken out. So trailboss.. When you pull off the rotor, the bearings come with it?? No need for a bearing press when reinstalling new bearings???

The bearings do come out of the rotor but the race that the bearing runs around in the rotor are pressed in. I never tried to remove it and just replaced everything so i had new everything in the rear.

How could you have "never tried to remove it" and "just replaced everything"? You mean you replaced everything but the race?
